Atari 5200 VCS Cartridge Adaptor

The Atari 5200 VCS Cartridge Adaptor allows Atari 2600 cartridges to be played on the Atari 5200. The Atari 5200 featured a completely different architecture and was not backwards compatible; the adapter was essentially a complete Atari 2600 that could be plugged into the Atari 5200 cartridge connector. It featured a 9-pin joystick port to allow Atari 2600 controllers (including the Trak-Ball, Paddles, and other accessories intended for the Atari 2600) to be used with an Atari 5200. There were some limitations; the adapter did not include the black and white / color T.V. selector switch which meant some games that repurposed the switch would not work with the adapter. Additionally, not all Atari 5200's were compatible with the adapter; the original 4-port 5200's needed to be modified to allow the adapter to work correctly.
