Overview and Gameplay

Intellivision version of Dragonfire
Intellivision version of Dragonfire
Dragonfire is a fantasy action game developed by Imagic. In the game players control a prince of a kingdom that has been taken over by dragons. The goal is to retrieve all of the kingdom's treasures which are being guarded by the dragons in different castles.

Each level in the game consists of two parts. In the first part players need to safely cross a castles drawbridge starting at the right side of the screen and reaching the door on the left side. Fireballs from the dragon move from left to right and need to be dodged or the player loses a life. The fireballs can be at either a high or low height; depending on the height players need to either jump over or duck under the fireball. The fireballs don't always move at the same speed, so players may need to be careful in their timing. The second part takes place inside the castle; the dragon is located at the bottom of the screen with treasures scattered around the room. Players need to collect all of the treasures without getting hit by fireballs from the dragon. Once all treasures have been picked up, a door opens in the upper left corner of the room; after exiting through the door, the next level begins. As the game progresses the speed and difficulty increase and the dragon follows a different pattern of movement.
